Christmas Message from our Bishop

Dear Friends,

As we gather to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I extend a very warm welcome to both parishioner and visitor to St. John’s Cairns.

It is my prayer that the worship at St. John’s will not only be uplifting and inspiring but you will come to appreciate at a deeper level the importance of God’s gift to us of his Son Jesus as we continue to serve our Lord. Christmas has become over commercialised and it is easy to be sidetracked. May the focus of our Christmas be on the stable and manage and not the tinsel and wrapping.

To those who are travelling I pray your travels will be safe. Please drive carefully.

Wishing you a holy and blessed Christmas.

+ Bill, NQ.

Christmas Message from our Rector

Dear Friends,

At Christmas, we focus on the baby in the manger. He is the long-awaited saviour of the world - Jesus Christ. He is our ultimate gift of salvation.

Dear friends, he also offers much more, scripture foretold in Isaiah 9:6 that Jesus "will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Each title speaks of who Jesus is and who He desires to be for us. (from My Journal – Michael Youssef)

So my friends, Jesus wants to be our Wonderful Counsellor, let this be so for us this Christmas and in 2012.

In the midst of the worst storms Jesus offers eternal peace.

Jesus says, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

So my friends, enjoy the Lord’s peace in your hearts and experience real joy as you celebrate this most blessed Christmas.

We continue to pray

for a Government that honours God and for the continued support from Government for school chaplaincy.

If my people, which are called by my Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
