Dear Friends
Last Saturday I was delighted to attend the Toc H Confidence Course in Cairns. I helped facilitate the course and took a session on the topic "Having confidence in others."
The purpose of the course was to motivate and grow self-esteem in young people. It was a one day intensive course consisting of 12 sessions and 12 activities. Participants were aged between 12 - 16 years.
There were excellent guest speakers including Jeff Grant from Relationships Australia, Councillor Kirsten Lesina, Padre Greg Windsor, Renee Cremen and Areanda Soemardi. Some of the topics covered were self-esteem, motivation, team work and knowing your limitations. There were also information sessions on Drugs and Positive Thinking. Some of the activities were tug a war, electric fence, musical chairs, orienteering and soccer. These were designed to develop confidence, fellowship and team spirit among the kids.
Father John Simons held a short service at St John's Church in the evening. At the end of the day, parents of the kids joined the participants and volunteers for a BBQ dinner and presentations.
It was a successful course and the kids left feeling inspired and empowered.
Attached are a couple of photos taken at the course. The link is here. All photos will be put on the Toc H website in the coming days.
The Toc H Confidence Course is held each year in Cairns. If you would like to be involved, please contact Les Lovelock on 4053 6752.
Best Regards
