Re-dedication address

Good evening ladies and gentleman, parents, guests, friends of Toc H.

The essence of my address tonight is re-dedication.. Now I doubt that this topic strikes you as obscure or irrelevant considering that the world chain of lights service follows my spiel.

But nevertheless we tend to take things of this nature for granted, and not embrace their importance in our lives. For example how many of you have made a  new year's resolution, wether it be as simple as losing those unwanted Christmas kilos, or actually do those plaguing household tasks? It is apparent  that;  Human beings often set themselves goals with the future in mind, even so, the motivation to actually set out and achieve these goals is then again harder to find.  In the case of an organisation like Toc H we approach the end of a year and find it a necessity to be inspired deeply to continue our work into the following year.  We need to rededicate.

As everyone would agree 2007 has been a hectic year. Earlier this evening myself and my fellow youth ambassadors touched on the many successful events that have taken place during this year, now it may seem meagre, quaint or insignificant from a distant perspective. However, Ladies and Gentlemen, I ask you to cast your minds back, or imagine this evening in late 2006; Toc H as an organisation was looking at the prospect of expanding their horizons, five youth leaders as apposed to three the year prior, the same amount of events if not more (and mind you there was more) on the calendar, and the logistics of 2007 seeming a monstrous feat, but for the fact that Toc H believed – and worked as a team, 2007 has been a huge success..

And believe me when I say; it wasn’t because of a lack of hard work. 

Now I’m sure that everyone is fatigued with the idea that the next Toc H year begins in January the youth leadership course charging us into action. But I’m sure we can make it.  So embrace your ability to rest, enjoy the festive season, Rededicate yourselves as individuals for the year of 2008,

- re-fill your spirit with energy,

- re-fill your heart with faith for the coming years.

- I ask you to; fix your minds eye on the prize, because in the future through time and space nothing is beyond our capacity as an organisation if we simply believe and act.

As we have witnessed in this year that has nearly come to an end. We can emerge with the ability to look back with satisfied elation and say; ‘wow, we have achieved a lot, We have done the Toc H legacy proud’.

So once again, ladies and gentlemen – welcome.  I welcome you to share and celebrate with us: re-dedication, and the world chain of lights service.
