Richard Colin Skinner

THE RICHARD SKINNER MEMORIAL PRIZE

Richard was born in Cairns on the 14th of April 1977, he attended Balaclava and Woree schools and enjoyed a short working career at Woolworths and Hedley Plumbing.

His interests included basketball, skateboarding and music.

Richard died tragically at the age of 18 whilst crossing a busy highway on the 4th of December 1995.

Richard is remembered, among other things, as a friend and supporter of St. Johns TOC-H.  His involvement in fund-raising and working-bees endeared Richard to all who knew him.

Members of St. Johns TOC-H branch in Cairns honoured Richard by performing the ceremony of light at the end of his funeral.

This special TOC-H award is a fitting tribute to a very special young man who remains in the hearts of all who knew him.
